Step by step

  1. Take one real job advert

Pick a job you would apply for. Use the same advert and the same CV in every tool, so the results compare.

  2. Look at what the result shows

Some tools show a list of keywords. Some show a score from checks. Ask whether you can see which line of your CV answers each requirement.

  3. Check how the job gets in

Can you paste a link, paste the text, or save it from the job page? Try a job on a site that needs a sign-in.

  4. Check the languages

If you apply in more than one country, check the languages of the app and of the CV and letter.

  5. Check what is free

Read the plan page. Note what the free plan includes and whether a card is needed.

  6. Read the privacy policy

Your CV holds personal data. Check where the tool says it stores it and who it shares it with.

How we compared

We chose four tools that are often named for help with a CV and a job: Jobscan, Teal, Rezi and Kickresume.

For each tool we read its own public pages: the home page, the plan or pricing page, and a feature page.

We wrote down only what those pages said on 28 October 2026. We did not sign in or buy a plan.

Where a page did not name a feature, the table says so. That does not mean the tool lacks it.

Features and plans change. If you find something out of date, tell us through Report a problem and we correct this page.

How each tool compares a CV with a job

Jobscan gives a match rate. Its home page says the rate is based on hard skills, education level, job title, soft skills and other keywords.

Teal matches your resume with the keywords of the job. Its pricing page says the paid plan adds a match score.

Rezi says that when you paste a job description, it pulls every keyword you are missing.

Kickresume's ATS resume checker gives a score from more than 20 checks of format, keywords and skills.

cvscored lists each requirement of the job, its result, and the line of your CV that answers it.

Where cvscored is different

You see the line behind each requirement, so you can check the result yourself.

Where your line says the same thing in other words, both versions are shown, and you choose.

Requirements only you can answer, such as travel or on-call, are kept out of the score.

The app is in ten languages, and the CV and letter are written in six.

Changes made for one job stay in that job's CV. Your main CV is not touched.

You send every application yourself. On supported sites the extension can fill in the form for you to check.

Where another tool may suit you better

Kickresume says it is based in the EU and hosts its data in the European Union. It offers its site in six languages.

Teal's free Chrome extension saves jobs from over 40 job boards, and its free plan has no time limit.

Jobscan says it detects the applicant tracking system on a job posting and tailors its advice to it. It also offers Auto Apply.

Rezi builds a resume with you through a conversation with its AI agent.

If you want many design templates, Teal and Kickresume offer far more CV templates than cvscored's five layouts.

The comparison at a glance

Each cell says what that tool's own pages say. "Not named" means we did not find it on the pages we checked.
